WalletHub's study ranked all 50 states based on educational attainment and the quality of education. The analysis considered 18 key metrics, including educational achievement, school quality, and the gap in attainment between different genders and races. The results highlighted a strong correlation between higher education and higher income, a finding that Utah's own researchers have echoed in a 2025 report.
The Top States and Their Secrets
Massachusetts, Vermont, Maryland, Connecticut, and Colorado took the top spots. Massachusetts, home to prestigious institutions like Harvard and MIT, boasts the highest percentage of adults with at least a bachelor's degree, at over 47%. The state also has an impressive 22% of adult residents with graduate or professional degrees.
