Susanna Reid is on our screens every morning presenting ITV's Good Morning Britain, but despite being such a friendly face and open book on television, she is much more reserved about her life away from the cameras.

The 52-year-old has opened up over the years about her dating choices, worries as a mother and how she spends her spare time, as she has said she enjoys her own company and has chosen not to get married.

As she hosts Susanna Reid: Can Britain Get Talking? A Tonight Special on ITV1 at 8.30pm tonight, we take a look back at her dating history and her home life with her two sons.

Love life and dating history

It is believed that the TV star is currently single and has never been married. She previously opened up about the particular reason she has not chosen to put a ring on her finger. "It was a personal choice. It's a bit of an old-fashioned idea that children are 'illegitimate' if you're not married. Children are legitimate, whether you're married or not," she explained on GMB in 2021.

The mum-of-three was in a relationship with fellow journalist Dominic Cotton between the years of 1998 to 2014. Following her split with Dominic, the pair remained close friends and even continued to live together. Four years later, she started dating Steve Parish, Crystal Palace's chairman.

At the time, she told The Sun: "I've never wanted [marriage]. I've never fantasised about the big day. It was never my ambition to be married. I'm very, very happy at the moment, but I don't want to be married. No, no, no, I think the focus should be on the relationship." Susanna never openly discussed the details of their relationship, but it is believed the two originally bonded over their shared love of football. The relationship didn't last in the end, as in April 2019, the two split after Susanna confirmed she was single again.

Day in the life at home

The ITV star presenter shares three sons, Sam, 20, Finn, 19, and Jack, 18, with her ex-partner Dominic. It is thought she lives in Balham, London, with her two youngest children and their black rescue cat Suki, who she often posts on Instagram. Her eldest son flew the nest for university in 2020.

As she revealed on Saturday Kitchen with James Martin, Susanna is a pescatarian. She also told the Mirror that she stopped drinking in 2018 and doesn't miss it. "I stopped enjoying it," she said. "I prefer life alcohol-free - it's tiring and the hangxiety got to me. I don't feel like I can plough on after pints of Guinness the night before. Spending time with the kids is my release."

While she is off the booze, like many of us over the past few years, she has comfort ate. "During lockdown I put on a stone. Unrestricted access to the bread bin was my downfall and not doing enough exercise, so I’m back on the Peloton bike and trying to cut out snacking again," she said.

Earlier this year, she told The Sunday Times Magazine: "My mornings are intense with the adrenaline of live news, so switching off is hard. I'm perfectly happy with my own company - I talk to people all day, I have a terrific team and I love my close-knit family. When the boys leave home, I know that's going to be challenging. In the evening I like gentle TV, nothing gruesome. A bath is a must, it completely de-stresses me. On a good night I switch the lights off at 10pm and I'm asleep within minutes."

Close-knit family and kids

Susanna and Dominic co-parent their three children. Speaking to The Sun's Fabulous magazine when her kids were much younger, she explained: "We still get on so well, Dom is still such a hands-on dad and we really co-parent. So, we live separately but together and happily in the same house. I'm not saying everybody can do it and I definitely think people are surprised that we can do it this way."

In an interview with the Mirror last year, she opened up about her open nest syndrome after her eldest son Sam went to uni. "You cry your heart out, because all that regular time with your children has gone," she said. "It's really sad. Now they're all en route to leaving home, I want to enjoy time with them as much as I possibly can. Good Morning Britain is my biggest commitment and I'm not taking on anything extra."
