Hello,

This is about the spawn chain of Brother Zephyl - Hasten Bootstrutter - Maldyn the Unkempt - a drake.

Normally there is a despawn timer on these guys, so they they leave and another one take his place. That was in place to allow people to make both the Robe of the Lost Circle and the JBoots quests.

Atm there is no despawn timer on these creatures, so that means when Brother Zephyl is up, no one can do the JBoots quest, and as he's reptty strong for normal people, it's totaly impsssible to end the quest, but with a server restart (if you're lucky and Hasten pops).

So it would be good to fix it, if possible of course -> I don't know if it was like this in classic, but I've always seen it working like this in EQlive, since I started as Kunark came out.

yeah i too remember that there(2000) was a despawn timer for the mobs . it was like 4 hours or so . if the monk was up you could do hgs and stuff till he despawned and killing the phs till either the monk or hasten was up . spawntime of the 4 possible mobs was about 6 or 7 mins . remember killing drakes and hgs till spawn :)

edit forgot the hours after "4" :)

Not sure, but I think the mob spawned, made all his pathing and came back to his spawn point to despawn...

FYI he does despawn, just took about 6 hours. he meaning Brother Zephyl.

6 hours is NOT classic, he is supposed to roam the entire zone once and despawn.... not roam for 6 hours..

since you decided to capitalize "not" I will assume you strongly believe your statement to be true in which case it should not be hard for you to provide some concete evidence of this to the GMs so that they can make the change.

I don't recall the 6 hours. I distinctly recall him only being up for 2 hours and then despawning. I could be wrong, though. I haven't camped him in quite a while. But, he has specific pathing and once it's complete, he despawns.

he is despawning on p1999.. anyone that does JBOOTS mq regularly knows this.

Weather 6 hours despawn is the correct ammount of time.. i do not know.. and im not going to look it up.. but i know this is the current behaviour.

Your counter-argument relies on the assumption that classic EQ was 100% fully documented. Have you seen patch notes for EQ? They more or less only reveal the major changes. Detail like this wasn't documented 100% back then while people were still discovering this shit/info sites were mainstream yet (like they are for WoW).

Perhaps in 2010 data is carefully documented, but 1999 was quite a new year for the "internet logicx"

Either way, if the despawn time were reduced it would only make life easier for everyone. What's the logic behind such a long timer? Having an unkillable mob pop as a 6 hour ph for a much more frequently used quest mob is just annoying.

Yepppp... 4 people just chilling in Rathe waiting for Hasten... read on Allakhazam that spawn timer was 20 minutes "back in the day"

No man he popped once, despawned and then I killed some PHs and he spawned again >< Just terrible luck, he despawneed after 6 hours though. Should be despawning again right about now so good luck!

Hate to necro this but I have had 3 brother Z's spawn in a row. I used to do this quest on live and you would have to wait approximately 40 minutes for him to walk the zone then he despawns. You can check this yourself on the progression server.
