Although his initial time with the team was brief—lasting just a few weeks—he returned to the Angels for a more extended period in 2024, achieving a personal best of 73 and one-third innings pitched that season.
Strickland kicked off the 2025 season within the Texas Rangers organization, yet fate led him back to the Angels via a minor league contract. He was called up to the majors in May and participated in 19 games, managing to maintain a respectable earned run average (ERA) of 3.27 over the span of 22 innings. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to a shoulder injury incurred in July, which sidelined him for the remainder of the year.
His career began in 2014 when he debuted with the San Francisco Giants, quickly becoming a key member of their bullpen in his second season. Strickland put together an impressive record, achieving an ERA below 3.00 across 226 innings during his five years with San Francisco. His tenure peaked in 2018 when he recorded a personal best of 14 saves, although that season was marred by a lengthy stint on the injured list following a broken hand—a consequence of a moment of frustration after a blown save.
This offseason, the Angels have strategically focused on enhancing their bullpen by acquiring several seasoned relievers, including Kirby Yates, Jordan Romano, and Drew Pomeranz.
